We both graduated from McGill Toolen Catholic Highschool in 2014. We were always friends, but never anything more. Brandon and I decided to attend South Alabama for college. We barely spoke freshman year, but reconnected on a road trip to Tuscaloosa our sophomore year. The McGill Toolen football team was headed to the State Championship and we carpooled to the game together. I ran into Brandon a little later in the year and talked him into coming on a South Alabama retreat put on by the Catholic Student Association. After that retreat, we became closer and much better friends. We began to enjoy each other’s company more and more. Fast forward to Mardi Gras of 2017 when we were headed to our first Mardi Gras ball. Neither one of us wanted to call it a date...but it was a date. Four days later, we began our relationship. After a short time, both Brandon and I knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together and serve each other as husband and wife. Now here we are, almost married and overjoyed for our future together!
We decided to start a tradition of going to a pumpkin patch and sunflower field in Milton, Florida the weekend before Halloween. 2017 had been our first trip and I knew how much Sharon enjoyed it and loved the sunflowers. I knew that sunflower field would be the perfect location to propose. The whole ride I was worried Sharon would notice the box in my pocket or see our friends following us, but somehow we pulled it off without her noticing. With our best friends secretly walking behind us ready to capture the moment, I knelt down, pulled out her grandmother's ring, and asked her to be my wife. It was the happiest day that ended with a joyous celebration, our family, and our friends!
