Sadie and Brandon have known each other pretty much forever. Their parents are friends, and they grew up going to the same church, so they’ve been around each other since they were kids. Sadie actually remembers thinking in junior kindergarten that she was going to marry Brandon one day. That probably had more to do with him being one of the only boys she knew at the time. In grade 7, she had a crush on him but kept it to herself. Even when her mom said Brandon seemed like a good match, she called him a “player.” Fast forward to late 2023 when their friend group started hanging out a lot over a few days. Out of nowhere, Brandon started texting Sadie, at first just about organizing a gingerbread house competition. That led to more talking, and before long, they were texting constantly. The competition happened. Brandon lost. The deal was that the loser had to jump in the lake. In December. He followed through, and right after, while they were walking back to Sadie’s house, he asked her out. Their first date was at Station One, where they talked for five hours. On their third date, about a week and a half after that first text, Brandon asked Sadie to be his girlfriend. And that’s where it all really began.
