We met in Nov. of 2019 while Brandon was a sleep-deprived law student at Northwestern Law and Melissa was an even (more) sleep-deprived medical student at Northwestern Med. While first date nights at Timmy O'Toole's and Rock Bottom Restaurant were certainly not (literally) Rock Bottom, given that Brandon had already accepted a job offer in Houston, TX, love for eternity was bleak (although the future lovebirds continued to be great friends). Then, the global pandemic rocked the world. Suddenly, Brandon's job start date was delayed, the bar exam was delayed, and remote work became a possibility. After Melissa helped Brandon move out of his Streetervile flat in May of 2020, Brandon knew that he had to ask Melissa out on a real date (round two). Of course, for anyone who knows Brandon and Melissa, they decided to go to the Lincoln Park Zoo (precursor for things to come, see below) Brandon subsequently asked Melissa to be his girlfriend and the time flown by. Years later, our love story comes to the present, where Melissa and Brandon have gone through a year of long-distance, moved from the city to the western suburbs of Chicago, and have supported (and continue to support) multiple animals. If working in law and medical residency were not enough to keep the lovebirds busy, running an animal (and plant) zoo certainly has done the trick!
