A Leap of Faith Above Leavenworth

From a fear of heights to a moment that took our breath away.

On October 17th, Brandon, my brother Travis, our friend Jason, and I hopped in the truck and took a little getaway to Leavenworth for Oktoberfest. The trip itself was already special—but Brandon clearly had more planned. While driving through Blewett Pass, Brandon suddenly insisted on taking a turn off the road and heading up a very steep hill. As someone with a serious fear of heights, I was absolutely panicking—especially since the steep drop was on my side of the truck. I was not having it. But when we reached the top, everything changed. The view was unreal. We were overlooking the entire town of Leavenworth. We had just missed the sunset, but the light was glowing over the hills behind us, washing the town below in the most peaceful, heavenly light. It was one of those moments where time feels like it pauses. That said—it was freezing and incredibly windy. The second I realized how cold it was, I immediately said, “Okay, nope. Get me back to the truck. I’m done.” That’s when Brandon said, “Hold on one second.” Before I knew it, he was down on one knee. In that breathtaking place—where I had just faced one of my biggest fears—Brandon asked me to spend forever with him. Cold, windy, shaking, and completely overwhelmed, I said yes without hesitation. Turns out, the scariest climb led to the most perfect moment of our lives.
