Hotel

The Northport InnThe Northport Inn

109 East Nagonaba Street, Northport, MI 49670

Roughly 20 minute drive from reception/ceremony. Walking distance to the Northport bay! Cute little shops and a few restaurants/bars within walking distance as well! Check out the beautiful views overlooking Lake Michigan from Peterson Park while you’re in town! ZERO cell service BUT the BEST sunsets/storm watching! Maybe take a trip down the stairs and search for Petoskey stones - you won’t leave empty handed! Fun-fact: Kayla’s dad owns a business in Northport - S&J Landscaping. The greenhouses/garden center is at 950 N Mill Street if you want to check it out! Local intel: Tim Allen docks his boat here every summer. His boat is too large to fit in the normal boat slips so if he is there - you can find his boat at the end of one of the docks. (Locals are not a fan of him - he is not the nicest, apparently)

Beautiful town with some fun little shops, river kayak rentals, dune climbing, and beaches! Absolutely stunning views here - just ask around or do a quick google search. A few of my (Kayla) FAVORITE spots are a short drive from here: Part of the Sleeping Bear Dunes Lakeshore - Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive. Typing that into your GPS will guide you there. A park pass is required, but I promise it’s worth it. They do offer day or weekly passes for $15-25 per vehicle, I believe. This is the perfect place to check out the dunes overlooking Lake Michigan without having to hike in the sand. There are a couple good spots to park the car and get out to appreciate the scenery but the one you MUST see is stop #9! I am certain it is the closest place to Heaven on earth. The breathtaking views will amaze you - pictures of this location are beautiful but they still do not do this place justice. PLEASE GO!!

4290 South West Bay Shore Drive, Suttons Bay, MI 49682

Suttons Bay is a fun little town with some delicious foodie locations and quite a few little stores to check out. The beach at the marina is kid-friendly and since this is part of the bay, you don’t have to worry usually about big waves for the little swimmers in the family. The local grocery store, Hansens has a delicious deli! In the summertime, their subs are my main weekday food source 🤷🏼‍♀️😂 Fun-fact: Madonna’s family owns Ciccone Vineyard which is on Hilltop Rd. in Suttons Bay. Although, last I heard it was still listed for $5 million!

Right on Grand Traverse Bay, downtown and recently remodeled! A short walk from the hotel to downtown shopping! TONS of awesome shops and foodie spots! It would take you a full day or more to check them all out! Some of my personal favorites - Grand Traverse Pie Company, Cherry Republic, Mama Lu’s Modern-Day Tacos, Pop-Kies, Morsels, The Little Fleet, Traverse City Pizza Company (food truck), U&I Lounge (good bar food), Union Street Station (Late night drinks and dancing), Kilkennys Irish Public House (fun music/dancing, drinks, darts, pool tables), and Encore 201 (Fun music but drinks are way overpriced and they typically have a cover-charge but it does have an older crowd usually so less of the drama compared to the other nightlife places downtown.

One of my (Kayla) FAVORITE hiking spots is not too far from Cedar - it’s called Treat Farm Trail. Not a crazy incline - some wooded, some open areas. There is an unoccupied house on the trail that startled me my first time hiking it - thought I was on someone’s property! It is owned by the government so you can’t go in but you can look inside. But continue hiking past the house through the field and you come out at the top of the dune overlooking Lake Michigan with stunning views. 😍

Downtown Traverse City - walking distance to shops and food. Across the street from Grand Traverse Bays public beach & Clinch Park/Marina. Rooftop bar is awesome! Take a quick drive up Old Mission Peninsula (the land you can see across the bay from this hotel) - beautiful, scenic drive and a place to pull over to appreciate the view overlooking the bay. You will find quite a few large wineries down the peninsula including one you may have heard of on the TV show, The Curse of Oak Island. The show features the owners of Mari Vineyards.
