To Do in Vegas

Here's some of our local favorites to enjoy while you're in town.
Sapporo Revolving Sushi

Sapporo Revolving Sushi

8239 Dean Martin Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89139
, (702) 522-8990

Our first date was at Sapporo Revolving Sushi, so you know it's good. You can order a whole meal or purchase one small plate at a time to try them all. Even more fun: the sushi is delivered to your table by a robot or conveyor belt. Our favorite is the 'popcorn lobster'.

Downtown Container Park

Downtown Container Park

707 East Fremont Street, Las Vegas, NV 89101
, (702) 359-9982

Container Park is walkable to the Grand Downtown Hotel. The shipping container complex has a mix of unique shops, restaurants, and bars: perfect outdoor setting for October weather. Oh, and the praying mantis sculpture shoots fireballs into the air.

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

1000 Scenic Loop Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89161
, (702) 515-5350

Driving the loop at red rock is well worth the $15 per vehicle. We go rock climbing most Saturdays, usually hiking in from the second pullout. The third pullout, called Sandstone Quarry Overlook, has "Calico Tanks Trail", a beautiful 2.2 mile hike with a view of the city.

Juan's Flaming Fajitas & Cantina

Juan's Flaming Fajitas & Cantina

9640 West Tropicana Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89147
, (702) 823-1400

Awesome local Mexican food and margaritas. Usually a 30 minute wait for seating. Always worth it.

Calico Basin Road

Calico Basin Road

Calico Basin Road, Las Vegas, NV 89161

If you don't want to pay to drive through Red Rock, Calico Basin is another gorgeous drive and hiking spot. Brandon proposed to Katie near the crossing of Red Spring and Calico Spring trails after a morning of rock climbing.

Willow Beach Marina

Willow Beach Marina

25804 North Willow Beach, Willow Beach, AZ 86445
, (928) 767-4747

If you've got time and interest while you're in town: Willow Beach Marina is about an hour's drive from Las Vegas and a beautiful spot for kayaking (rentals available) or a beachside picnic. Emerald cave is about 2 miles up the river and accessible for beginner kayakers.

Arizona Hot Spring Trailhead

Arizona Hot Spring Trailhead

Arizona Hot Spring Trailhead, Willow Beach, AZ 86445
, (702) 293-8906

If you're up for a longer hike: Arizona Hot Springs Trail is 5.8 miles round trip and about a 45 minute drive from Vegas. The trail has natural hot springs at the end, closed up with sandbags forming natural jacuzzi tubs to soak in. Wear water shoes (or bring shoes to switch into like Chaco or Teva), swimsuits, and bring lots of drinking water.
