How We Met

A couch, a car, and some flooring

In the summer of 2020, Darcy and her roommate moved into an apartment but her roommate’s couch wouldn’t fit in the entryway. Some friends of friends were contacted to help hoist the couch in through their second floor balcony, and Brandon was one of the guys who showed up to help. After the couch was safely in the apartment, Darcy and Brandon met and struck up a conversation. Darcy’s car was in need of some work, and Brandon just so happened to be a car guy. He offered to help fix her car and gave her his number. (Fun fact, he accidentally entered his number one digit wrong, and Darcy had to later track down his correct number!) After they made plans for Brandon to work on her car, Darcy really impressed him when she asked if she could come learn about what he was fixing. A job that should have taken an hour that day turned into four hours of conversation! Darcy found out Brandon was planning to lay flooring in his house that weekend, and she conveniently offered to help (with a dual interest in learning to lay flooring and to spend more time with this guy!). Their interest in getting to know one another was quickly evident, so the following week they started dating.

The Proposal

11.09.20

Neither Darcy nor Brandon are really “plan ahead” kind of people when it comes to the day to day - or a proposal. When they took a day trip to Indy one weekend, Brandon thought he might have the opportunity to propose. Instead, they spent over 4 hours at Ikea (haven't we all) and never made it to downtown Indy. So, Brandon instead spent several hours sitting on a ring box in his back pocket (very uncomfortable, he says). On the way back from this trip, he asked Darcy if she would like to go to their favorite city park the next evening. Darcy was immediately suspicious (remember, we don't plan ahead). Her suspicion was confirmed when on their walk through the park that evening, Brandon got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. It was an easy yes!
