Answer

We are so excited to celebrate our special day with you! Our wedding ceremony will begin promptly at 1 pm, so we kindly ask that you arrive at least 15-20 minutes early to find your seat and settle in. This will ensure that everyone is comfortably seated and ready to share in our joy when the ceremony starts. We look forward to seeing you there!

Question

I've never been to a Catholic Wedding, what do I wear? How can I participate in the service?

Answer

What Should I Wear to a Catholic Wedding? A Catholic wedding is a beautiful and sacred ceremony, so we recommend dressing in semi-formal or formal attire. For men, a suit or dress slacks with a collared shirt is appropriate. For women, a dress, skirt and blouse, or a nice pantsuit would be lovely. Out of respect for the church setting, we suggest avoiding overly casual clothing and ensuring that shoulders and knees are covered. How Can I Participate in the Service? Catholic weddings include rich traditions and beautiful rituals. Here are a few ways you can participate: Stand and Sit: Follow along with the congregation as they stand and sit throughout the ceremony. This will be guided by the officiant or by cues from those around you. Prayers and Responses: Feel free to join in the prayers and responses if you are familiar with them. If not, simply follow along in the provided wedding program. Sign of Peace: At one point, there will be an opportunity to offer a sign of peace to those around you, usually a handshake or a friendly greeting. Communion: During Holy Communion, only Catholics who are in a state of grace should receive the Eucharist. If you are not receiving Communion, you can either remain seated or come forward with your arms crossed over your chest to receive a blessing from the priest. Your presence means the world to us, and we appreciate your respect for our traditions on this special day!
