We're getting married!

Melisa and Brandon met on Facebook Dating — just one day before Brandon went into surgery. Funny timing, right? Brandon was online looking for a distraction, and instead found his destiny. After being released from surgery, Brandon sent Melisa a photo of himself still in his hospital gown — groggy, drugged, and looking pretty rough. Most people might have run the other way, but Melisa is a Sagittarius, not one to shy away from a challenge or an adventure. Just three days after surgery, she drove from Indy to Bloomington for their first date: a hike through the Indiana forest. Against her better judgment, she followed Brandon into the woods and they walked three miles together — joking the whole time that either Brandon might trip and seriously re-injure his surgically repaired shoulder… or Brandon might make Melisa disappear and no one would ever know. They made it back safely and ended their date climbing the fire tower. Despite being slightly terrified the rickety thing might collapse, they reached the top — the perfect ending to a perfect first date. From that moment on, it was clear this was something special. With Melisa, it’s always been “when you know, you know.” Kismet, as she would say. Now, they’re so excited to continue their adventure together and feel incredibly grateful to celebrate this next chapter surrounded by the people they love most.

Brandon had the ring for over two months — and Melisa knew it. Naturally, she grew impatient. They traveled to St. Lucia and the Dominican Republic, enjoying breathtaking sunsets, romantic dinners on the beach, and even over-water bungalows. Every moment felt like this could be it… but nope. Once on the field, they wandered around pretending to soak it all in before casually making their way to the 50-yard line. They asked a random couple to take their picture — then Brandon asked for video instead. That’s when he dropped to one knee and said: We joked that the woods could have been the end of the road for us — but they were really just the beginning. I went looking for a distraction and found my destiny. We’ve traveled to incredible places, but the only place I want to be forever is by your side. I’ve known since that first hike. So let’s keep packing for every adventure — together. Will you marry me? She said yes (obviously). Then Brandon led Melisa to a nearby restaurant where their family and friends were waiting to celebrate. She had no idea any of it was planned — and was completely surprised, overwhelmed, and impressed.
