Nick and I had our first date at Jewel Lake Bowl (I lost severely!), and since then we have spent most of every day together, learning about our likes and dislikes, and growing with eachother. I think we both knew from the start, that this was going to be it for us, we found the person we were meant to be with. In the next few months, he became my absolute best friend, someone I could talk to about anything and receive no judgement from. We fell in love fast and he stepped in to be a father to my then-4-year-old daughter. He accepted her and loved her, even though he didn't have to, even though he had no obligation to, and has been raising her as his own ever since. He has done more for her, and us, than I could ever ask for, and I will never be able to express enough gratitude for that.
He proposed this year on Leap Year! I said I wanted a memorable date, and that's what I got. :) We went for a drive along Turnagain Arm, a normal Saturday Adventure Day for our family, and he decided we should stop at Beluga Point (one of my favorite spots!). It was so incredibly windy that day, I almost didn't want to get out of the car! But luckily for me he convinced me to and we went to one of our usual overlook spots. I was looking out at the water and when I turned around there he was on one knee, holding out a beautiful diamond ring! I was feeling every emotion at that point, I really didn't have words! Of course, I said yes and here we are! We are so happy to be finally taking this next step in our relationship and we are just wanting something small that celebrates the love that has grown between us and the love we share for our small family :)
