The Proposal

Dustin's friend, Nick text that he and his wife were coming to town and wanted all the friends to get together for dinner and a night out. Nick is a planner, so when we got to dinner and Nick said he had surprise planned for after dinner, no red flags went off. Nick and Leeana split us up in 3 teams, no couples allowed to be on the same team and explained the rules. We were doing a scavenger hunt! We were to figure out the location, go there, get a drink and take a picture to confirm we completed before moving to the next clue. The only rules... it wasn't a race, no motor vehicles allowed, and we couldn't get to the last location before 7:30. I read the first clue and immediately took off (I can be a little competitive). After being slowed down by my teammates, we get to the first stop. We get our drinks, take our picture and have a seat. While my teammates talked and enjoyed their beer, I was going through the other clues to figure them out and make a game plan. We head to the second and third stops. When leaving the third location, I see Dustin and his teammates on a golf cart getting a ride. I proceed to take their picture and yell they are cheaters (again, slightly competitive). We finish up at the fourth and fifth location and head to the final location. It is 7:29 when we hit the door and I'm confident that we are the first team. We don't see Nick or Leeana when we get there so we decide they are probably on the back patio. I open the door and loudly wonder why all these people are starring at us and then I see him. I might have quickly tried to turn around and head back inside when my teammates eased me outside. There on the back patio were lights, rose petals, Dustin and a Marry Me? sign. As I walked towards him, I slowly realized that most of the people starring were our family and friends. He quietly asked me not to be upset with him for doing this in pubic rather than just he and I like we had discussed. He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I of course said yes, and we celebrated the night with our friends and family who helped make this such an unforgettable night.

The Wedding

I've never been one that loves the attention that comes with weddings. So, Dustin and I decided to skip the traditional wedding and just head to the courthouse. We don't normally make a big fuss about Valentine's Day, so I asked what he thought about making it our wedding day and he agreed. We took the day off from work and headed to the courthouse to make it official. Now we are looking forward to celebrating our marriage with family and friends at our reception.
