We got married!

Branden Camp

&

Cara Folk

August 29, 2024

How it started

On a warm July evening in 2022, the Light Horse Bar and Grill in Alexandria, VA, was buzzing with the energy of a 90's cover band. The music was loud, the lights were dim, and the air was thick with nostalgia as patrons sang along to the hits of yesteryears. Among the crowd were two strangers—Cara and Branden. As the story goes, we spotted each other across the bar and struck up a conversation, comparing our dating app profiles in real-time—despite the fact that this was a non-dating app chance meeting. We yelled over the music making jokes and trying to ask some pertinent getting-to-know-you questions. Likely the age-old DC question: "WHAT DO YOU DO?" Branden sealed the deal by buying drinks for Cara and her friends, which certainly helped his case. After exchanging numbers and parting ways, we texted a bit over the next week. Branden *finally* made a move and asked Cara out for drinks. The rest, as they say, was history!

How it's going

Two years later.... We decided to make things super official! We ventured to Fredericksburg, VA to find a wedding band with an elopement in mind. In classic Cara and Branden fashion, we found the perfect ring at an antique store and on August 29 to seal the deal - surrounded by a few close friends and family. The ceremony was held at the Carlyle House in Alexandria, VA with cake and drinks at nearby Josephine's. We wanted to make sure that we shared our special moments from the wedding day with our family and friends here. Mom Folk read a poem at the end of our ceremony that we wanted to share with you: Apache Wedding Blessing - Elliot Arnold “Now you will feel no storms, for each of you will be shelter to the other. Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth to the other. Now there is no loneliness, for each of you is companion to the other, You are two persons, but there is one life before you, and one home. Turn together to look at the road you traveled, to reach this—the hour of your happiness. It stretches behind you into the past. Look to the future that lies ahead. A long and winding, adventure-filled road, whose every turn means discovery, new hopes, new joys, new laughter, and a few shared tears. May happiness be your companion, May beauty surround you both in the journey ahead; And through all the years to come. Go this day to your dwelling place and enter into your days together. May your days be good and long upon the earth. Your adventure has just begun!”
