Bryan and Cami met at a wedding in San Diego, September of 2014. Bryan was a groomsman to his longtime childhood friend and Cami was there to support the bride, a close friend of hers. Their paths would cross a number of times in the days both leading up to and after the wedding, but it wasn’t until the last day of festivities that Bryan would finally muster the courage to ask Cami if she’d like to join him and a group of friends for a farewell lunch. Well lunch turned into lunch and drinks, and before long the two found themselves ignoring the rest of the group and having their own private conversation. As the cocktails flowed, and afternoon became evening, Bryan soon forgot that he was starting a new gig in LA early the next morning, and more importantly, that the last train back would soon be departing. When Cami finally inquired as to when Bryan was planning on heading up, Bryan, emboldened by the afternoon libations and not wanting the night to end, futilely attempted to convince her to give him a ride. Fortunately, Cami’s infinitely better judgement prevailed, and Bryan settled for a ride over to a friend’s house. As fortune would have it there was still one last person headed up to LA and Bryan was able to make it safely home that night. In the days that followed Bryan couldn’t get Cami off of his mind and when he returned to San Diego the following week for a bicycle ride down the Baja coast, he made sure to set up a date with Cami. The two immediately realized they had more in common than just mutual friends and afternoon cocktails, and the rest as they say, “is history.”
Before he had ever met Cami, Bryan had dreamed of cycling the Mediterranean Coast. Throughout their relationship, Bryan was secretly gearing Cami up for this journey. First, he got her a touring bike for Christmas, followed by cycling shoes and a kit for her birthday. Before long she found herself accompanying him on long rides down the coast of Baja. Once it became clear that this was all part of a bigger plan, Cami resigned to join Bryan on his journey. The two started their adventure in Paris. Worried about cycling with the ring for the entire trip Bryan had decided there was no better place than the city of love to propose. But as he would later reveal to Cami, "the moment just never felt right." For the following seven days, they rode through three countries, and hundreds of miles of Mediterranean and Ligurian coastline. The views were breathtaking, the climbs, gut wrenching, and the not unseldom brushes with Italian motorists, traumatizing. At times, the tears of frustration were impossible to hold back. But after an agonizing last day of climbing and an all too welcome final descent into the magical seaside port of Santa Margherita, the tears would turn to those of joy. For it was there, under the moonlight and in the shadow of Santa Margherita herself, that Bryan took to one knee and asked for Cami's hand in marriage. And as fate would have it, it was the very same day just four years prior that the two had first met.
