If you ask Brian, our love story began on a website called glutenfreesingles.com. But that's not the real story. The app is called JSwipe...and the gluten-free lifestyle, a coincidence. But this is definitely one of Brian's favorite jokes so don't be surprised if he pulls a fast one on you. Alyssa and Brian's relationship began on a weeknight date at a little bar in NYC called Till & Sprocket, where the two enjoyed cocktails and bonded over their love of true crime docuseries, good food, growing up in North Jersey and sarcasm. A spark ignited that night when both knew there was something truly special about the other, Brian telling his friends and family that Alyssa could be the one and Alyssa coyly smiling to hers, stating there was just something about Brian that lit her up inside. After only a few weeks, the two began their regular treks back and forth to and from Morristown, NJ and NYC so that they could spend their time together...and as they say, the rest is history. Alyssa and Brian moved in together a few months later in NYC and have experienced so much together, big and small: Brian opening his business, Alyssa going back to school for a Master's degree, the happiest of moments and some more challenging, like the pandemic. After 3 years together, they are so excited to begin this next phase of life together because as they have learned, they can do anything together...and wouldn't want it any other way.
Early on in Alyssa and Brian's relationship, they spent their first weekend away together in a charming town in upstate New York called Hudson. Proving to be one of their favorite places with amazing restaurants, great stores and good vibes, Alyssa and Brian went back several times...and always had dinner on Saturday night at Ca'Mea, their favorite restaurant. So, when deciding where to propose to Alyssa, Brian knew that there was no better place to do it than at "their" restaurant in "their" town. In planning their annual weekend to take the trip back up to Hudson in November 2020, Alyssa made their Saturday night reservation at Ca'Mea. But little did she know that Brian secretly contacted the owner right after to plan the well-orchestrated proposal that would require the cooperation of the owner, a local florist and a restaurant staff playing actors for the evening. And so, in the middle of a pandemic, while Alyssa and Brian dined under heat lamps outside in the shivering cold, Brian surprised Alyssa just before the main course came out as he got down on one knee in front of the restaurant and asked, "Alyssa Mariel Untracht, will you make me the happiest person in the world and marry me?" Safe to say no entrees were eaten. After getting over the shock she was in (Alyssa is very difficult to surprise), and amidst the cheers and applause from the restaurant's staff and diners, Alyssa said yes, the two shared laughs, hugs and kisses and then they both called their loved ones to share in the magic of that night....and they had a lot of leftovers.
As you can tell by this point, the word Hudson seems to be a theme in Alyssa and Brian's relationship. So it was no surprise that when they searched for the perfect venue to start their lives together as husband and wife, Hudson House in Jersey City, NJ was it. A waterfront venue with a skyline view, it is the perfect setting for them to say their "I Dos" in front of their friends and family. Planned to be a big party and a true celebration of love and partnership, we are so very excited for you to hopefully join us in taking this incredible next step in our life together. You have all been there since the very beginning...and we love you. Thank you for being a part of our story! Please be sure to check back for updates.
