We met at work nearly 9 years ago. Way before we fell in love, we began as friends who admired each other’s creativity and ambitious spirits. On that fateful day when Brianna won the gold medal in the Office Olympics shooting contest (Nerf guns, of course), Alex realized she was different in the best way (and to never cross her). Aside from being a skilled marksman, Brianna’s relentless positivity and vibrant energy never went unnoticed and brought out the best in Alex. Our friendship evolved on the day of our very first date. We bonded over a candlelit dinner of canned Chef Boyardee mini ravioli, and after dinner we baked pumpkin chocolate chip cookies with dough mixed in a CLEAN mop bucket. Our signature recipe and baking technique has since been named “Bucket Cookies.” This unusual date marked the start of our new relationship and was an evening we will never forget. Years went by and our love continued to grow. In the summer of 2021, Brianna brought Alex to her favorite spot in Chicago – North Pond. We laughed, talked about everything and nothing, and enjoyed the company of dozens of tiny turtles that swam up to us. Nothing else mattered except being together in our own world tucked away in a hidden nook of the pond. On that day when we marked the pond to be our spot – our “Magic Turtle Spot” – Alex knew where he’d ask Brianna the big question...
