Matt was getting his taxes done in Galt, and received a Hinge message from Kendra that resulted in us meeting in Elk Grove later that day. Matt had arrived 15 minutes early, and realized that the place he had asked Kendra to go on a first date to, was a biker bar. Matt swiftly changed the location to Brickhouse, which was conveniently located right next door. Kendra saw Matt waiting for her at the table, and was shocked by how tall he was. Once conversation started flowing, Matt quickly realized that he had made the right decision to meet with Kendra. We started the night off getting to know more about each other over drinks. The night was going great, and we both didn't want it to end. We decided to go to a nearby bowling alley and play pool. We continued to talk and enjoy each other's company. At the end of the night, we walked around the perimeter of the bowling alley, doing anything possible to prolong the night. From then on, we spent everyday driving back and forth to spend time with each other.

This was one month after moving back into our house. We had recently spent the past 7 months, living in multiple Air BnB's, while our house was getting remodeled. In the month that we had moved back, it seemed like the universe wasn't on our side. Issues kept arising within our house, that demanded immediate fixing. Matt had told Kendra that since they had been very stressed out lately, that they needed a night out to revisit happy memories, and remind themselves that the hard times are only temporary. The afternoon started at the house, sitting on the bedroom floor, where we had said "I love you" for the first time. Next, we drove to the Brickhouse parking lot, where Matt expressed his thoughts about the first date when he had shown up to the biker bar. He shared that he paced the parking lot, thinking about how Kendra wouldn't take him seriously, unless he changed the location. The final destination, was Don Nottoli Park in Elk Grove. This is where we had met for many of our dates, as we were both living at home with our parents at the time. At this park, we'd walk the levy and sit at the benches, talking for hours. Kendra being completely oblivious, and Matt being extremely nervous, we walked to the bench we used to sit at. Matt couldn't think of a better way to have Kendra turn her back, so he told her "I have a trust game for you, you have to turn around, but don't worry you don't have to fall backwards." Kendra hesitantly turns around and Matt got down on one knee. Kendra turns back around completely shocked and overwhelmed with the happiest of emotions. Both in tears, Matt had asked Kendra to marry him. Without hesitation, Kendra said YES!!
