Brae and Adrian met at Pfeiffer University in 2015. They connected through mutual soccer friends and remained close until graduating in 2017. After both returning to Raleigh, they met up on several occasions because Brae couldn’t stay away from Adrian’s puppy and number one wingman, Kodak. That summer, they took Kodak on his first beach trip to Myrtle Beach, and the rest is history.

In January 2022, Brae and Adrian had planned a mountain get-away for Brae’s birthday with just the two of them and of course, Kodak. They were staying in a small treehouse dome with no power, running water, or phone service. In just one day, Adrian became a master fire-maker and the two played dominoes by the fire light. The next day, Brae and Adrian made a campfire brunch and took pictures in matching PJs (Kodak included). Shortly after, Adrian asked Brae to open her birthday presents and surprised her with a final unexpected gift… the ring. They spent the rest of the trip enjoying eachother's company and ended up extending their trip for a few days due to an unexpected snow storm. After a timely rescue from the National Guard, they made their way off the mountain and back home with the big news and an eventful story to go with it.
