John M. Browning Firearms Museum
If you like firearms, especially the Browning brand this is an interesting trip. It is the Union Station which also has a railroad museum and a small car museum. It is in Old Town Ogden. This is the hometown of the groom.
Mount Timpanogos hike (strenuous)
Hike up the 2nd highest peak in the Wasatch range. 8 miles one way 11,749' summit. Could be snow on the north side.
Provo Canyon Drive
A beautiful drive through Provo Canyon and a side trip to Sundance ski resort. You can end up in Park City which has many eating and drinking options and nice art museums that will gladly take that money that you can't figure out what to do with.
Mount Timpanogos cave
Nice cave suitable for kids. The visitor center is closed but guided tours are available if you purchase your tickets early
Park City
Fun town. Old mining town that is now very gentrified and a vacation spot extraordinaire.
Provo River Fishing
Rivers are usually running high and dirty this time of year but the tailwaters can sometimes be ok
Red Butte Gardens
Beautiful gardens to walk around. Well worth the time. They do have concerts in the summer but we may be a bit early.
Red Iguana
You may not think that Salt Lake is the best place for Mole, but this place has the best I have ever had. No contest. Also many other tasty Mexican influenced dishes and great margaritas.
Utah State Liquor Store
Liquor can only be purchased at state-run stores in Utah. Making sure the stores are conveniently located and have reasonable hours and prices is not the goal of these establishments. 3.2 beer can be purchased in the grocery store. Wine is only available in the state stores. Utah has the strictest DWI laws in the country. Never drink and drive. I recommend bringing your favorite beverages with you if you are driving.
Great Salt Lake
I have never been on this tour. It is a dead lake due to high salt content but there are biting sand fleas on the shoreline. It looks like it stops at Antelope Island which is full of buffalos, deer, and antelope.
Bonneville Salt Flats
An all-day trip but if this is your thing it is the only one around.
Thanksgiving Point
You don't have to go anywhere. Plenty to do at Thanksgiving Point.
