Our First Chapter

If you began reading our first chapter expecting a love at first sight story involving stories of letters confessing one another's love for each other and occasional study dates, then you are gravely mistaken. Sofia moved to Lancaster in 2011 and had first met Brady in middle school, however, their friend groups were far from similar and the two rarely crossed paths. It wasn't until high school that Brady and Sofia began to get to know each other more. They shared a class, Mr. Rogers's tenth-grade bible, where they also sat next to each other. During class, Sofia would tear up little pieces of paper, roll them into a mini ball, and stick them onto a piece of tape, gifting them to Brady once she was finished. To this day Brady still has one kept on his binder from high school. These Pablo Picasso-like gifts from her were a regular occurrence that quietly hinted at her growing interest. Eleventh grade came around and the two had a class together, Mr. Adams's math class. They were once again placed near each other, allowing Brady to notice that the two of them shared the same kind of pencils albeit different colors. Now for those that don't know Brady loves to tinker and hates math so it only made sense that during class he would take apart our pencils and swap out different bits making us matching pencils. This is where Sofia was supposed to note that this was Brady’s attempt at making a move on her but she did not. Summer of Senior year came around and everyone was using that hip new app for talking and sharing funny photos with filters, Snapchat. If you know about Snapchat then you know how if you continue to "snap" someone every day you begin a streak and it was Sofia's goal to create a streak that lasted from Summer to graduation. It was during a summer party at a mutual friend's house that Sofia made this proclamation where Brady immediately volunteered to be the one to receive Sofia’s daily snaps and promised to snap back every day. It's not a grand story with a declaration of love but this is where our story truly started. They began messaging each other every day in an attempt to keep their streak alive, and with each snap, they got to know each other more, and soon Brady learned which snaps Sofia admired the most- pictures of his dogs, Joy, Sam, and Arson. Brady quickly became a constant in Sofia's life. He would drive her home from school and cheer her on at volleyball games while repping her Jersey. He had even become the go-to handyman for Sofia’s grandparents once they learned of his Bob the Builder-like capabilities. A couple of his friends would try to convince Sofia that Brady was fond of her but she thought he merely viewed her as a friend and wouldn't believe it until she heard it from him. After Sofia's senior volleyball game, on October 20, 2016, a group of friends went to Denny’s to celebrate. It was near the school, cheap for high school kids, and open late. The night felt like any other until their friends drove off, leaving just the two of them behind in the parking lot. That’s when Brady turned to Sofia and said, “I know I should have asked you this a long time ago, but will you be my girlfriend?” It may not have been the most romantic of locations but Sofia didn't care and couldn't wait to get home and tell her best friend that she was now Brady's girlfriend. That’s when the two became High School Sweethearts and on September 19th, 2024 Brady proposed to Sofia on a private tour of the Piedras Blanca LightHouse and it was perfect.
