The first time Aaron and I spent any length of time together was before I'd even considered him a friend- it was a Saturday night, and we were both working under the stars outside of the library. Aaron came over to talk to me, which I found very irritating, but the conversation was great, so I proposed that we continue it over a beer at Oil Well (see "travel"). After about two hours I texted my friends, "I just talked to Aaron Weasley all night and it was really nice." They both said, "you're going to date him" and I responded "definitely not." I'm glad I was wrong about that.
Aaron and I met in the first year of his PhD program at Ave Maria University, during my first year teaching. We were slow to friendship, but after about four months of getting to know each other, Aaron told me that he wanted to pursue a relationship. I was shocked, but after our first date to a Mighty Mussels (Single-A baseball) game, I was excited to see where the relationship would go!
Honestly, I don't know how I got Aaron to agree to getting this dog, but now we have Chewy, who is not showing his excitement for this wedding like I'd hoped.
On the feast of Elizabeth Ann Seton, Aaron proposed in the side chapel of the Cathedral in St. Augustine. We went to Mass, and he surprised me by inviting my best friend and her husband to be there and celebrate with us! We ate delicious Italian food afterward with my parents and Christina & Patrick. N.B. He did not know that it was Mother Seton's feast day, but that just goes to show that God's providence is super cool.
