Matthew and Jenna first met at Central Connecticut State University in January 2021 while pursuing their post-baccalaureate teaching certificates in Physical Education. Matthew was one semester ahead, but fate had other plans for their paths to cross. On Jenna’s very first day of class, the professor kicked things off with an icebreaker game that had everyone running around the gym meeting new people. By chance, Matthew and Jenna ended up paired together to perform the infamous “Happy Salmon” handshake. Awkward? Definitely. But the moment quickly turned into laughter, breaking the ice in the best way possible. From that day on, the two found themselves talking more, sitting together in class, and partnering up for every project and activity. What started as a friendship built in the gym soon grew into something more. After the semester ended, they officially began dating, and before long, their lives became intertwined both inside and outside of school. Once they finished student teaching and landed their first teaching jobs, they moved in together and added another member to their little family, their beloved dog, Brew. Fast forward a few years later, in April 2025, Matthew got down on one knee and asked Jenna to marry him. She said yes, and now they can’t wait to celebrate their big day surrounded by the people they love most as they begin their forever together.
