Our wedding day is also the day of the New York City Marathon. While this is an amazing event to watch if you have never seen it before, and while the marathon route is not on Roosevelt Island, this means there *will* be road closures and traffic. If you are driving onto the Island, please give yourself enough time to plan for traffic. If you are not staying on Roosevelt Island, we *highly* suggest you take the subway (F train to Roosevelt Island) to get to the wedding. We have talked with both venue staff and hotel staff about getting around the city/ onto Roosevelt Island via car on marathon day, and while it is not impossible, things will take longer. Please be prepared!
Its a neighborhood that is considered part of Manhattan but is located on an island in the East River. Just like any other neighborhood in the city, you'll find some restaurants, coffee shops/ delis, a grocery store, drug store, and recreational areas on the island. It is accessible by subway (F Train), tram, ferry, bus, and car.
There are about 35 dedicated parking spots for guests to use at the venue, and street parking around the venue/ Island.
You can either walk north along the water (about 15-20 minutes) or take the free Red Bus (route information listed in the "Travel" section of this website). The Red Bus runs every 15 minutes and is a 4-5 minute ride.
Although we love all of your little ones, this is an adults only celebration, with the exception of our flower girls and ring bearer.
Please dress in formal attire. Think suit and tie or elegant dresses.
There are always countless events happening in NYC, but we can suggest a few ideas that are close proximity to Roosevelt Island and less typical destinations than Manhattan. Long Island City (LIC), a neighborhood in Queens east of Roosevelt Island, has tons of great breweries, bars and restaurants. You'll also find MoMA PS1, a contemporary art museum. Greenpoint, Brooklyn also has a lot of great bars, restaurants, shopping, and bakeries. Astoria, a neighborhood in Queens with tons of cultural food institutions. Anything from Greek, Italian, or Afghani cuisine, and even southern comfort food and barbecue. You will also find the Museum of the Moving Image, which houses cool exhibits highlighting the history of film, digital media and tv. If you have any specific questions about what to do while you're here, please reach out!
