When We Began

05.13.2016

We did not know what we were getting ourselves into on our 8th grade class field trip to Michigan Tech. Being total opposites, we barely even talked let alone thought about dating. Yet, 7 years later we are engaged and planning our wedding day! We like to say that it all started with Everest. As a class we we’re sitting down watching a movie together and Bradey decided to ask me if they wanted to share a blanket. After the movie there was ice cream being served in a nearby cabin and I decided to continue on with whatever this 8th grade flirting was. Instead of simply walking to get the ice cream, I said I didn’t want to put my shoes on but also didn’t want to walk barefoot (like how desperate was I being as an 8th grader lol)! Bradey, being the gentleman (if that’s what we should call it at the time) he was, offered to give me a piggy back ride. My little scheme was a success and the rest of the trip consisted of giggles, blushed faces, and gossip. When we went back to school Bradey stopped me in the hallway one day on his way to recess and my way to lunch. He nervously walked up to me and said “please don’t be mad at me”, has a long pause and continued on with saying “I like you”. I guess my quick response of “I like you too” was the right thing to say because the rest is history! Oh, and needless to say I wasn’t mad at him.🤍

The Proposal

05.07.23

After putting it off for 7 years, I finally had the ring. To make it official, I knew I had to propose in a way that she would never expect. I contacted one of Jeanna’s photographer friends to set up a “trap” photoshoot so that Jeanna would set up a photoshoot that, unknown to her, would be her engagement photoshoot. She figured out the photoshoot themes, picked out her dresses, and even told me what to wear. She did a wonderful job planning her own proposal! A few days prior to the big day, on my 21st birthday, I found myself in the ER; Jeanna was the one puking… This really threw a wrench into the plan and I wasn’t sure if she would feel up to it on the day of the proposal. Thankfully, she came around in the nick of time and felt up to it the morning of the big day. The surprise proposal at Wisconsin Point was a success and we had a blast of a day spent with friends, family, and each other in celebration, until that night that is… At 9 pm on the night of our engagement, I was granted my turn to shove my face in the toilet bowl all night long. Instead of talking sweet nothings deep into the night about what our future as a married couple might hold, Jeanna was instead holding a bowl beneath my chin as I dry heaved the night away. How romantic it was. I guess they do say in sickness and in health, am I right?
