How We Met

05.06.23

We met on the dating app Bumble! We originally planned to meet for a quick coffee date at 8 am on Sunday to see if there was any chemistry in person. But after a week of talking and texting, we both knew there was something special between us before we even met. So, we decided to move our first date up and meet for dinner (at Del Frisco's Grille) and a comedy show on Saturday evening. Brad drove Tracy home that evening after the comedy show. Luckily, Tracy had the courage to ask Brad if he wanted to hang out on the front porch and have a nightcap because Brad was way too nervous to suggest anything! It turned out to be an incredible night of talking, laughing, and watching a huge storm roll in. Before our first date had even wrapped up, we had already planned our second date -- grabbing coffee just a few hours later as we had originally planned. If you're wondering why we chose to have our wedding on a Monday, which is admittedly a little odd and inconvenient, it's because 05.06.2024 is exactly one year from our first date, which started at Del Frisco's Grille.

The Proposal

10.20.23

If you know Brad, you know that he had multiple plans (and backup plans for the plans) for the proposal. In October, we headed down to the Texas Hill Country to attend a wedding - Tracy’s friend Bri. This particular weekend had not been in any of Brad’s proposal plans, but he grabbed the ring and threw it in his bag on a whim just before heading out of town. Our first stop when we got to town was Tracy's longtime favorite vineyard, William Chris. We booked a lunch and wine tasting there. As soon as we arrived at the Vineyard, Brad had a feeling telling him that this was the time and place to propose. So, he went around to the trunk to grab the ring out of his bag. Of course, Tracy met him at the trunk to ask him what he was doing. Brad said, “oh, I have a little headache and just need to grab an ibuprofen” (the only lie Brad has ever told Tracy to this day). Of course, always the compassionate healer, Tracy said, “I’m sorry! I have some ibuprofen in my purse. Here you go!” So, the plan was thwarted… temporarily. As the lunch was wrapping up, Tracy was chatting with the nice couple who had been seated next to us. Brad seized the opportunity to step outside to “make a call” and check on his grandmother who was sick that day (Ok, so Brad has lied to Tracy exactly twice). The plan worked. Brad grabbed the ring and came back inside just as Tracy was getting up from the lunch table. At that point, they decided to take a little stroll around the vineyard’s picturesque vines and views. When they walked into the shade of a large tree, Brad dropped down to one knee and proposed! Serendipitously, a woman walked over a few minutes later to tell us she saw the whole thing happening, whipped out her phone, and captured the moment in pictures for us! Although it wasn’t what Brad had planned, it turned into a beautiful memory that we will cherish forever — and celebrate at least once a year at the vineyard! As great as that memory is, we're even more excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you!
