How did we meet? Amanda Sheckman! The end. Oh, you need more detail? Well, it was a winter morning in Los Angeles in January 2018. Jeni awoke to an early AM text message from her friend Amanda, one of her good DC pals. Amanda wrote that there was someone she 'kind of wanted to set up' with Jeni. Amanda knew Brad from their mutual hometown of Miami and also knew he lives in LA. As any woman in her mid-30s would reply, Jeni asked: Is he straight and single? OK! Thus with Jeni's permission, Amanda messaged Brad with a similar ask and passed along the phone number. That same night, Brad reached out to Jeni and we proceeded to text-chat for about 2 solid hours. We arranged a first date for that Saturday night, January 27th. Jeni agreed to a sushi restaurant despite openly declaring that she does not, in fact, eat seafood. But she likes many other options at Japanese restaurants, so all was good. Brad was a true gentleman and picked Jeni up. Upon arriving, some of the very first words uttered by Jeni were along the lines of "I don't think my new iPhone is working correctly. I think this phone is also having the stupid draining battery problem." Poor Brad became tech support within mere minutes, as is fitting for him. Now he is signing on for life. The dinner conversation was excellent. Jeni marveled at the fact that Brad's voice is as loud as hers (this will either be a great thing or terrible thing for any future children). And also importantly, Brad not only passed the "Saved by the Bell" test (whereby Jeni can only date people who can carry a conversation about the show) but he also scored extra credit by liking "LOST" and "How I Met Your Mother." Cut to Jeni's December birthday trip to Vegas...when Brad proposed! We are so excited to have you join us on our wedding day, and we appreciate that many of you are coming from far away. It means a lot to us as we start our lives as husband & wife! The rest, as they say on TV, is to be continued...
