We believe everyone – yes, everyone – is inherently curious and creative, born explorers. But sometimes our creativity meets real-life commitments and maybe even a head full of doubt. Creativity often falls by the wayside while we do All The Things. So, we buy instead of make. We consume instead of produce. We invest very little of ourselves into our things. We let our creativity lie dormant. Until now. Because we’re on a mission to help you rediscover your creativity. In a bar.

The Waterfront Botanical Gardens was started by Botanica, an umbrella organization for the local gardening community started in 1993 to help enlighten, entertain, and educate the community about the botanical world. In 2001, Botanica learned that it was the beneficiary of a trust established by member Helen Harrigan, a local gardener with a desire to see a botanical garden and conservatory built in Louisville. Helen’s gift reshaped the focus of this organization, and we set about our work to create what has become Louisville’s Waterfront Botanical Gardens. General Admission: FREE Wheelchair accessible. No wheelchairs available onsite for use.
To enjoy a trip to the Falls of the Ohio during October, we'll hope for a sunny and warm day. If it's rained recently, the Ohio River might be a little too high to walk across the fossil beds, but it's still a lovely place to go. The Falls of the Ohio Foundation supports the natural, cultural and historic resources of the Falls of the Ohio Area, including helping the State Park create and maintain a great exhibit and program experience. If you are an outdoor enthusiast and enjoy nature exploration, the Falls of the Ohio State Park is for you! “Dry snorkel” (hike) across one of the world’s most accessible Devonian-age fossil beds. Bring binoculars or a spotting scope to observe many bird species that are attracted to this unique ecosystem. You might even catch a glimpse of our local Bald Eagles! Visit the historic George Rogers Clark home site (by car, bike or on foot), part of Falls of the Ohio State Park.

Churchill Downs Racetrack conducts Thoroughbred horse racing in Louisville, Kentucky during three race meets in Spring, September and Fall. The racetrack occupies 175 acres, featuring a one-mile dirt, oval racetrack and a seven-furlong turf racecourse. The backside barns located behind the racetrack house more than 1,400 horses each year. Thoroughbred racing, the Kentucky Derby, and the Kentucky Oaks have run continually at Churchill Downs Racetrack since 1875. Over the course of three centuries, the track has completed several massive renovation projects to modernize its venerable grandstand and clubhouse and to accommodate its more than 165,000 guests on Kentucky Derby Day. The Twin Spires that sit atop the grandstands remain the most recognizable architectural feature of Churchill Downs and serve as a symbol of the racetrack. The spires were designed by architect Joseph Dominic Baldez and were built in 1895 – they shine across the world’s most legendary racetrack each night.
