Aaron: August 9th, 2015, Jiffy Lube Live, the day of the J. Cole Forest Hills Drive Concert. Brittany and I had been plotting these tickets and had no other friends to go with. We decided we were destined to go to this concert together. We arrived & met with friends then proceeded to our area. The concert was dope because of J. Cole (duh) but Brittany was rapping all the lyrics word-for-word, just as I was. It was a vibe. After the show, my friend mentioned to me "Have you ever tried to talk to Brittany?" I thought, hmmm the girl from 9th grade Biology class? I said, "I never thought about it," but in my mind, I said, “she is cute” Fast forward to 2017, Truckeroo Festival is in full swing. For the second time, looking for reliable friends to do different stuff with, Brittany and I found each other. We were ready to enjoy the decadent mobile cuisines in Navy Yard. We began to frequent these events and caught a few movies together. One of the many times we attended the festival, I remember running into friends and for the second time someone asked, "Have you ever talked to Brittany?" I said, "Oh no, we are just friends, we just hang out and do stuff like this." Little did I know, she was the one and so much more. In the years leading up to now, Brittany has continued to challenge me and broaden my perspectives for the better. We continue to grow with each other to be the best rich auntie & uncle in the world! Brittany: Let's zoom into 2017 again. Aaron and I had been casually hanging out but definitely were in "auxiliary friend" status. One day, I texted Aaron to see if he wanted to go to hang out after work. He let me know he already had plans to hang with a friend and he'd just pick me up on his way out. So, this random Tuesday we went to a few bars and just chilled. I had never looked at Aaron as a potential match. During the ride home, I happened to look over at him. After a few cocktails, those street lights made him look a little handsome (I think he had SIR playing too?) I tucked the thought away and went about my business. A few weeks later, I posted a selfie on Instagram. Aaron entered something flirty in my DMs & I asked him, "Are you flirting with me?" He said, "Yes." I said, "Okay, well we need to talk about this." We set up a day to go to the movies and dinner. We saw one of the many Transformers & grabbed some food at a sports bar. After dinner, we got right to the topic at hand! I told Aaron I was looking for a husband and wasn't interested in messing up our friendship if he wasn't trying to be serious. He said, "Okay. I'd like to work towards that.” We chatted casually after, got some ice cream, and went our separate ways. I am a straight-shooter and Aaron didn't even sweat. We started talking more and a few weeks later we made it official. In learning to be ourselves together, Aaron has always approached me with a level head and the calmness I need. We are quite opposite but amp each other up or calm each other down as needed. We decided to take a chance on each other, this is it y’all!
