Coronavirus Update

Our hearts are broken.

Although we have been planning our wedding for nearly three years now, we found out today, May 2, 2020, that we no longer get to keep our reservation at our venue. We will be getting married as scheduled, but with only VERY limited guests (seriously, only parents and grandparents). As we have reception details to share, which you will all be invited to, and will likely be in August or September of 2020, we will share them. Please reach out to us with questions.

How We Met

October 2015

Written by Emily Anderson: I frequently studied, did homework, and hung out with friends at the Owasso Starbucks, where Connor worked while in high school. Little did I know, he had spotted me a few times at Starbucks and would have someone take over the register when I came to order so he wouldn't have to talk to me. It wasn't until he asked one of my friends (who also happens to be an ex-boyfriend!) I had been studying at Starbucks with, Alexander Royce, about me that I knew Connor existed. Alex and Connor had recently became friends and were at a concert together when Connor asked Alex for my phone number. Alex did what any respectful person would do, and texted me to ask if he could give Connor my number. I asked for Connor's social media (so I could check out how cute he was- duh!) and told Alex he could give Connor my number. Days passed before Connor actually texted me- but shortly after we began texting, we starting hanging out in friend groups and went on our first date in October of 2015. We were inseparable from the start. If I remember correctly, we spent time with one another eleven days in a row when we first met (before we even started dating!). Our first date was at Applebees for dinner and then at the Owasso theater for the movie Everest (part of the reason there are mountains on our coordinating tattoos). On October 29, 2015, Connor asked me to officially be his girlfriend, and the rest is history.

Our Engagement Story

July 2017

Written by Emily Anderson: Connor and I love to go hiking together and with friends. In the summers, that's usually what we are doing with any and all free time we have. So, when we were running out of ideas for new places to hike in the summer of 2017, I suggested taking some friends out to one of the Girl Scout camps I grew up at and hiking to one of my favorite spots in the entire world- Little Man Falls. He said absolutely, we asked a few friends, and I did the paperwork that would allow us onto the camp on July 1, 2017. Little did I know, he was planning much more than a day of hiking on July 1! We loaded up my car with fishing poles, corn, and more friends than my Prius can comfortably fit and drove out to Camp Wah-Shah-She. Unexpectedly, when giving them a brief tour before we hiked to Little Man Falls, I found out that the archery storage was unlocked, so I decided to give them all an archery lesson and we spent about an hour doing archery! (That must have been torture for Connor...) Then, we put everything away and hiked out to Little Man Falls. Everyone grabbed a pole and corn and began fishing. We were all catching perch after perch after perch, and after one of our friend's hook was eaten by a fish, I started tying a new hook on to his line. During this, Connor asked if I could come help him with something while kneeling behind me. I stood up and turned around and he proposed! Hayden Klein took photos and I said yes a million times. I couldn't have asked for a more meaningful or joyful day. After we hiked back to the car, we went to lunch at our favorite restaurant, Charleston's, and did all the calling, texting, and posting that happens after someone gets engaged!

Our Year of Long Distance

2016-2017

Written by Emily Anderson: For some reason, even though I am a planner and am always thinking ahead, I didn't consider the fact that when Connor and I started dating, the clock started ticking toward him graduating (and me not). Once the spring semester came, Connor started talking about college. He had gotten two lacrosse scholarship offers: one at Saint Gregory's in Oklahoma and one at Indiana Tech in Indiana. I still don't know how I did it, but I sat down with Connor and we wrote out a very objective pros and cons list for each college. We decided on Indiana Tech and our hearts broke. We were told by literally everyone "good luck with long distance" and I was so very sad to watch him leave in August of 2017. We texted, called, and FaceTimed as often as we could and each drove across country multiple times to visit the other. He even drove overnight to come to my senior prom- which was thwarted when his truck broke down three hours from Oklahoma! Thankfully, his grandparents met him and brought him back to me and we made it to prom, but he had to fly back to Indiana the very next day to go compete in lacrosse nationals! Long distance was hard. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. We hadn't even had an entire year together before he left, and, quite frankly, I don't know how we did it, but I know one thing for sure: if we can avoid having to do long distance for the rest of our lives- we will!

Donating Our Hair

June 2020

Written by Emily Anderson: Here's a really fun fact! Connor and I have both been growing out our hair since high school so that we can donate it together on our wedding day. We will be donating it to Wigs 4 Kids (since Locks of Love charges wig recipients for their wigs) and plan on continuing to grow out our hair and donate it over and over throughout our lives!

Our Future Plans

Now-Eternity

Written by Emily Anderson: Connor and I will both graduate from our respective universities in May of 2020. The wedding (with very limited guests) will be June 27, 2020. We will go on our honeymoon in July. We are planning a reception for August or September for our originally planned guests to attend. We will leave for the eSwatini, Africa, in October of 2020 where we will serve in the Peace Corps until December of 2022. We will come back to the United States and either land in Oklahoma and begin careers or find somewhere to go to graduate school and then land in Oklahoma and begin careers. We plan on having one biological child and adopting one.
