Culver-Stockton College was the factor in bringing these two together! They first met the fall semester of 2019 when working at the Cat's Pause on campus. They instantly became friends and became inseparable. One nice late summer evening, Rhiannon was sitting outside at the picnic tables watching TV on her laptop when Anthony got off work and decided to join her. Before they knew it, they had watched the sun rise together and the rest is history! Late nights turned into early mornings frequently for these two. Many nights spent up at the Alpha Tau Omega house hold precious memories and have brought many friends to Rhiannon and Anthony. It is safe to say that Culver-Stockton brought Anthony and Rhiannon together with their lifetime back yard barbeque crew!
One of my friends had tipped me off and said that Anthony was going to propose sometime during graduation weekend. Ironically, someone tipped him off that I was tipped off. The Thursday before graduation, he had told me that he couldn't afford the ring he wanted to get me and that he was really disappointed that he couldn't propose as planned. I told him that the ring didn't matter, and if he still wanted to do it we could go get a ring pop from Ayerco up the street. The next night, we were getting ready to head to the bar to meet up with some of our classmates, friends, and alumni. When we got to PUB 3one4, it was absolutely packed. As soon as we walked in I was whisked away by a few of his fraternity brothers that were asking questions about what we would be doing after graduation. Next thing I know, I hear Anthony screaming at the top of his lungs. I turn around and I see him ON THE TOP OF THE BAR. The first thing that goes through my mind is "oh my god, please don't fall off of the bar honey, the closest hospital is 30 minutes away". To my surprise, his speech wasn't some cheesy farewell/graduation speech, it was him proposing to me in front of some of our closest friends and beloved faculty members. Honestly, the rest of that night was quite a blur, and I am still surprised that my night-out makeup survived all of the tears from that night! The amount of people that came up to me and said "oh thank god, I don't know how much longer I could have kept that from you" was ridiculous! Some of our friends knew a year in advanced! Well played guys!
Right after graduation, we moved to Kansas City Kansas to begin our life together. We have had our struggles, but we are learning how to be around each other 24/7. We still can't figure out who the real bed-hog is! One thing is for sure though, our lives have gotten a lot more interesting since we adopted (no so little) Shaggy Dog! Anthony is going to continue to pursue his dream in Sports Management and Marketing. This fall, I am starting my Masters in Counseling, with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health! As for Shaggy's personal journey, he will soon be starting classes to be a certified therapy service animal, training in Deep Pressure Therapy for clients struggling with anxiety, depression, and PTSD (so hopefully one day he can go to work with momma!) Now, the question that everyone has been asking - "When will there be little MT's running around?" Hopefully soon, stay tuned!
