Ashley and David met through mutual friends at The Ohio State University. After a few months of talking, we decided to be dates to a wedding we were both attending. Obviously, the wedding went so well that 2 days later, we had our first date to the Festival of Lights at the Cincinnati Zoo. A few days later, we officially started our relationship and celebrated our first New Years Eve together in 2012.
Ashley and David got engaged on October 16, 2020 in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Georgia. 2020 had been stressful for both of us with all the new COVID-19 rules and regulations with our jobs. We decided to take a weekend getaway and hopefully enjoy some fall and cooler weather. We finally found a cute little cabin in the mountains and booked the trip. Ashley joked with David for days about how we were having a romantic weekend getaway. While David may have brushed it off, little did Ashley know what was in store. Our first day in the mountains, we decided to take a hike to Amicalola Falls State Park. Their "moderate" hike ended up being "strenuous" and 6 miles round trip. David initially wanted to propose at the bottom of the waterfall, but there were too many people so we had masks on, and it wasn't right or romantic. So we hiked straight back up the mountain side. David started acting different by trying to find the perfect spot so we could take a picture overlooking the mountains. Meanwhile, Ashley was trying to make sure Dakota didn't go over the edge of the mountain. When he finally found the perfect spot, David told Ashley that he brought her here for a reason and had something for her. He goes to pull the ring box out of the backpack we've been carrying all day, and it goes flying down the hill! Ashley still wasn't comprehending what was actually happening until David got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! Of course, she said yes!
