We met on Tinder by happenstance. Taylor was living in Hermiston and I was living in Moses Lake. Neither of us had our mileage set far enough that we should have met. One day Taylor was in Moses Lake delivering tires to Les Schwab with his trainee who wanted to know how Tinder worked. In showing him how Tinder worked he swiped right on me. Some time later I was on Tinder and because Taylor swiped on me he came up on mine even though we were no longer within our mileages. I decided to also swipe right. We matched I messaged Taylor and that led to our first date.
Our first date we went ice skating and then out to dinner. It was super awkward but fun. As it turns out we both thought that we messed things up. Plot twist we didn’t! Now here comes my favorite part; two days later Taylor texts me freaking out a little bit because he had realized he took me out on a date the day before Valentine’s Day. And now it’s just my favorite thing and is my favorite part of our story to tell. We attempted to recreate our first date a year later and go ice skating again and let me tell you I’m not sure at all how we managed to do it the first time.
We were in Reno visiting my family. We had gone for a walk along the river. Taylor found a little secluded spot and pulled out a box. In the box was my necklace that I had sent to my Pampa (grandpa) to fix right before he had passed, as well as my great grandmas wedding rings. Taylor attempted to adjust the necklace and in doing so he dropped the rings. They both bounced off the walkway and toward the edge that was above the river. One stopped on the edge and one went over. Taylor then tells me they were my great grandmas rings. We look over the edge and see that the ring did not by some miracle bounce into the river but instead landed in a little mud patch. Taylor then keeps asking if I want to put my necklace on but I was too busy crying over having the necklace back. Since I wasn’t agreeing to put the necklace on Taylor said that there was something else and pulled the necklace out of the box and attached to the necklace was an engagement ring. He asked me to marry him to which I obviously agreed too because wedding. Then Taylor went swimming to go retrieve my grandma’s ring from the river bank. Later on we then realized that without planning Taylor proposed at exactly the year and a half mark of our relationship.
