In the late 1800s, Jekyll Island served as an exclusive hunting retreat for families such as the Rockefellers, Morgans, Vanderbilts, Pulitzers, and Bakers. Today, that former private club is part of the Jekyll Island Club National Historic Landmark District, one of the largest preservation efforts in the Southeast. Stop by the Mosaic Museum to explore the island’s rich history, including the founding of the Federal Reserve right inside the Jekyll Island Club Hotel!
Saint Simons Island is another island off the coast of Georgia. Only about 30 minutes away, this island has tons of other restaurants, shopping, and sights to see for any guests looking for a change of scenery during the weekend.
About an hour and a half from Jekyll Island, Savannah is definitely a sight to see! Savannah was the first city of Georgia and has a ton of history and things to do! (and where we got engaged!)
