This is a borough with lots of hole-in-the-wall quirkiness. We love the Porter House Beer Bar, where you’ll find more beers than you know what to do with (they even have an impressive vintage collection) and some pretty awesome food. We’ve never been anywhere we didn’t like around here, very walkable and just a bit weird. Some great Instagram Candy here too, if you like to poke around.
This is a converted Sears building with neat shops and amazing food everywhere you turn. There’s a beer garden and boardwalk games on the roof, with a pretty cool view of midtown. Favorite place to spend a day off (especially in the Mercury Room—amazing cocktails)!
Right next to Lucy’s office, she likes to wander around in there during her lunch breaks. They have a world class collection—the “Parabolic Mirror” by Anish Kapoor and Anselm Kiefer’s “Dracho” (both on the top floor main gallery) are her favorites.
One of the most worthwhile things in this city—a large collection of letters and writings from MLK, and tons of interactive pieces.
Foodie heaven. Every time we go, we wish we had more room. Something for everyone here.
More than 30 acres right in the middle of the city. There’s a frog feeding at 11 AM on Saturdays! Rare species, too.
Historic and a real treat. They usually have some pretty cool Matinees going on—you’ll just want to book tickets early.
