I told Terra I had a conference to attend in San Francisco and asked if she would like to come with me. Attending conferences for work is common for us, so Terra did not suspect anything. She accepted my invitation, and my plan was in motion. We arrived after midnight, and I had her believe we were having breakfast with my co-workers at 7:00 AM. Initially, I planned to pop the question at Land's End Labyrinth at the Legion of Honor. We also had other plans for the day which put us on a tight schedule. Between talking to Terra's parents and managing our time, pulling this off was quite the challenge. When we arrived at the Legion of Honor, I made it seem as if my coworkers were running late for breakfast and that they suggested that we view the Labyrinth while we wait on them. Naturally, this had upset Terra, and my plan to walk to the Labyrinth was not going as planned. About 5 minutes into our trek to the Labyrinth, Terra stops and says, "Baby, I can't keep going. It's too cold, and I don't want to get sick." The combination of being up early, hungry, and cold put Terra in a bad mood so we headed back to the car. I resorted to plan B. By this time it was 7:30 AM. The rental car was due by 8:30 AM, and the "conference" was supposed to start at 9 AM. We decided to return the car and eat breakfast without my coworkers. I said I needed to make one more stop. She questioned how we were going to get all of this done in time, but I told her not to worry. Our next stop was the Palace of Fine Arts. Once we arrived at the Palace, the sun had come out, and it had begun to warm up. Everything was perfect. As we're walking to the area that I had in mind, I begin to confess that there is no conference, no coworkers, and I brought her all the way to San Francisco for something else. "Terra, I want to ask you something." I pulled the ring from my pocket, got down on one knee, asked Terra to marry me, and she did me the honor of saying yes.
