Being from both from the same small community we always knew of each other. However, we had never met before in person. It wasn't until Brock slid into my direct messages on Facebook that we connected. The classic 21st century millennial love story we know. Brock only spent 3 weeks "dating" me until he asked to become official. Fast-Forward 5+ years, a house, and two dogs later here we are.
In 2017, when holidays rolled around Krys (Brock's mom) decorated for Christmas. She bought monogrammed stockings for everyone in the family and I was bummed to know that I didn't have one. So bummed in fact, I guess I constantly talked about it and mentioned how sad I was. One night his dad said "only Baer's get stockings, and you're not a Baer" (joking knowing that Brock had bought a ring, but hadn't decided how and when to propose yet). On Christmas Eve I opened a present with a monogrammed stocking and a big fake engagement ring (Brock trying to be funny). I thought it was a really mean joke at first but turned around to him down on one knee, jaw dropped and red-faced I whispered a "yeah".
