FAQs

Question

What should I consider for attire?

Answer

Typically, the temperature on the mountain top is very pleasant. However, we always suggest that you bring extra layers of clothing in preparation of changes in the weather…at times, it can get cool at night on the mountain top. The venue has warm blankets if needed. It is cocktail attire, but aim for whatever you will be the most comfortable in for the day!

Question

What shoes are recommended?

Answer

Most of the walking surfaces are nature inspired, so we advise wearing comfortable shoes…(we recommend a wedge if you want to wear any heel). The gravel parking lot, crusher run driveway and grass lawns can be a challenge for high heels.

Question

Hotel?

Answer

We have a guest block and discount code at Holiday Inn Tanglewood (see Travel). The cut-off date for booking the hotel block is August 19th, 2026.

Question

How will we be getting to the venue from the hotel?

Answer

We are looking into securing a shuttle service at this time, but there are also cabs and ubers in the area. We recommend bringing or renting a car seat if you have small children.

Question

Is the venue child friendly?

Answer

Yes, we are so excited to celebrate with all of our loved ones of all ages. The venues has a delightful playground for kids, high chairs if needed and a baby changing station.

Question

Parking?

Answer

For those of you who are getting there by vehicle or renting a car: There is on-site parking at SHL and we do encourage carpooling. They do allow cars to park overnight in the guest parking lot.

Question

What is allowed/ not allowed?

Answer

Smoking: only in designated areas (please be respectful of the wildlife) Firearms: not allowed Fireworks: not allowed

Question

Can I bring my dog?

Answer

Yes, the venue does have large kennels, a dog playplace and it is pet-friendly. Just be sure to clean up after them. The hotel is pet friendly, but I cannot guarantee that our hotel block has pet friendly rooms so we recommend calling or emailing the hotel to confirm this.

Question

Directions

Answer

According to the venue, google maps and GPS are not always reliable for directing you to the venue. Follow this instead: Take Hwy 221 south toward Floyd. As you start up the mountain, the highway turns into 3 traffic lanes. When you get to the top, the highway will level off and return to 2 traffic lanes; look for the Bent Mountain Fire and Rescue Station on your left and turn left just before the Bent Mountain Fire and Rescue Station on to Slings Gap Road. Follow Slings Gap Road until you come to the 1st road on your left (brick church is the benchmark) which is Sugar Camp Creek Road. Turn left on to Sugar Camp Creek Road. Follow this road until you see the 1st driveway on your right (big green mailbox is the benchmark). Come on up…the SILVER HEARTH LODGE driveway is 3/4 of a mile long.
