Our Story

July 7, 2022

Bonnie's short and to the point version: I reached out to Randy online in early July, 2022 to which he very quickly and politely responded he wasn't interested in a long distance relationship. After a spontaneous lunch, several more rejections, and 6 weeks of continued texts and fun, laughter filled phone calls, Randy gave in and asked Bonnie on a real date. We met in Bozeman on Thursday, August 20th and the rest is history!! Randy's long winded and touching version: Randy's version is a little bit different version than Mrs. Bonnie Kay's. I truly believe there was a higher power involved in our story. We met on an online dating site. One thing that I learned while on the sites was that gals would send a hello from not only across Montana, but also from other states. After seeing these hellos, I made the decision that I was not interested in a long-distance dating thing. When I would get a hello from someone that did not live near Missoula, I would simply not respond. Fast forward to the week of July 4th, 2022. I was heading to Mt. Rushmore in Rapid City, SD with Nicole and family, and would be driving through Billings. That week Bonnie sent me a hello on the dating site (higher power instance #1). I looked at her profile and thought she was cute and that we had a lot in common. For some reason instead of just passing by her profile, I responded (higher power instance #2), and I kindly said something to the effect that we seemed to have a lot in common, but I was just not interested in a long-distance dating thing. Bonnie refers to this as rejection #1! At this point we had only been messaging on the dating site, but she always seemed to make me laugh. Not sure, why, but while at Mt. Rushmore, I suggested that we meet for lunch on my way back through Billings. Higher power instance #3. I didn't think of it as a date, but instead of having lunch with someone that I enjoyed messaging with. That night we spoke on the Phone for the 1st time. We had a great visit, she had me laughing the whole time. We met for lunch, again had a great time, good conversation, and it felt totally comfortable. We said our goodbyes, and as I'm driving back to Missoula (4 1/2 hours), I kept thinking how beautiful she was, and funny! As the drive wore on, I kept thinking, how would we even go on a date? When I got to Missoula, I texted her and kindly said that I had a great time but still was not interested in a long-distance dating thing. She refers to this as rejection #2! We decided to keep in touch (higher power #4). She was just starting her dating journey and joked that since I had been running a sprint in the dating world, I may be able to share some suggestions. So we agreed. A couple nights later, I was on the dating site and saw that Bonnie was also on the site. I texted her asking how she was doing, and instead of texting back, she called me (higher power #5). We talked and laughed for over an hour. Over the next month or so, we texted/talked every day. And laughed!! At that point, I came to my senses and decided to ask her out on a date and the rest is history!!
