On March 14, 2014, we left our house at 4 in the morning to fly out to San Diego, CA. Just the two of us. We landed in California at 10am Pacific time, grabbed a cab to our hotel, and were elated to be able to check in early. After we cleaned up, we grabbed another cab to the County Office; we had a 12pm appointment to get our marriage license. At 12:45 they led us to the ceremony room, where we were greeted by the most adorable 20-something girl with curly blonde hair and big glasses. I handed my iPhone to the paid witness to take pictures, and just 15 or so minutes later we kissed for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. Ian Ackerman. We've each told this story probably hundreds of times. It was an amazing day- just the two of us, from wake to bed, without any distractions. We've even recommended it to others- get married at the county office without anyone there so the two of you can enjoy each other in the most intimate way for the whole day; then have a traditional celebration later on if that's your thing. Well, we are a bit delayed in the traditional celebration part, but here we are, 10 years later! Thank you for being patient while we built and sold a business, made some babies, and focused on our careers. It's been a wild ride, and we are so grateful to be able to celebrate it with all of you.
