The Wedding Website of Bonnie Jaffe and Ian Hoagland
To get to Lake Como, most guests will fly into Milan and then take the train, shuttle transfer, or drive up. We highly recommend staying in Tremezzina/Lenno as our events will be in this part of the lake (the ferry that departs to the wedding venue will also be located in this area). There are a decent amount of accommodation options to choose from in Tremezzina/Lenno and a range of tiers. Please book as soon as possible as it will be high travel season. Below you will find hotel recommendations and travel/transportation information.

Travel Note

Tip for booking accommodations

If you have an Expedia account, there are an abundance of options for apartment/home rentals in the Lenno/Tremezzina area of the lake. You can also select the filter for “fully refundable” and “reserve now, pay later” options.

Flight

Milan (MXP) - Closest airport to Lake Como

Non-stop flights to Milan from US cities are New York, Newark & Atlanta. Other options: Flight from Miami to Rome --> 3 hour high speed train to Milan Flight from Miami to Zurich --> Flight to Milan OR 2 hr 40 min train to Como from Zurich Flight from Orlando to London --> Flight from London to Milan Flight from Orlando to Frankfurt --> Flight from Frankfurt to Milan

Train

Milan Centrale - Como San Giovanni

Train ride is about 40-45 minutes. Google Maps or the "Rome2Rio" app are great for giving detailed train directions.

Rental Car

RENTAL CARS

The drive up to lake Como is also quite enjoyable and takes ~1:15 hours. Most hotels have parking, but the nightly rates can be somewhat expensive. There are a number of rental car agencies you can book from both airports (Malpensa and Linate) as well as from downtown Milan (near the Milan Centrale Station is best). You can rent from both international car rental agencies or local Italian ones. FYI - Many cars on offer will be manual, make sure to check if you want an automatic. *Note* If renting a car in Italy, an international drivers permit is required and can easily be obtained from a AAA office for a $20 fee.

Travel Note

FERRY FROM COMO TO LENNO

Ferry from Como to Lenno can range from 30 mins to 1hr+ depending on the speed of the ferry. If arriving to Como by train, it is about a 15 min walk to the ferry terminal. You can also take a taxi from the Como train station to the Lenno/Tremezzina area which is about a 45 min drive (ferry is more affordable).
