Information on Pawleys Island
"Pawleys Island" encompasses both the physical island itself and the broader surrounding area. Traveling north to south, the areas we will likely be in or around are Murrell's Inlet, North Litchfield, Litchfield by the Sea, South Litchfield, Pawleys Island, then Georgetown. Delving deeper into the history of Pawleys Island, it holds profound significance for Claire's family, spanning generations. It was a cherished vacation destination for her ancestors, with her great grandmother and grandfather frequenting its shores in their youth. In May 1955, Claire's grandparents, Claire and Towers Rice, embarked on a journey that would forever bind them to Pawleys Island when they became engaged during a family vacation there. During those simpler times, devoid of modern comforts like air conditioning, cell phones, and TVs, the essence of Pawleys Island was one of unpretentious charm—a place where sandy toes were the norm, and the motto "Eat when you’re hungry, drink when you're thirsty, and sleep when you're tired" epitomized the laid-back lifestyle. These values, instilled in Claire's family from childhood, continue to resonate, emphasizing self-care and the importance of gathering together for meals. Now, Kyle shares in the profound affection for this coastal gem, and they make every effort to return as often as possible. Notably, Pawleys Island holds a special place in Layla's heart, as it was her inaugural beach experience. While modern amenities such as air conditioning, cell phones, and TVs have found their way into our lives, the timeless charm of Pawleys Island remains unchanged. Countless cherished memories have been forged within its embrace, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to introduce you to the magic of Pawleys Island. Where to stay!
The majority of wedding events will take place close to Litchfield by the Sea, South Litchfield, or Pawleys Island. Litchfield by the Sea, where the beach club is, is a private gated community. We strongly suggest staying in Litchfield by the Sea if possible. There are tons of amenities in it such as tennis/pickleball courts, pools, easy beach access, fishing, a walking trail, and it is very lovely. We are delighted to hear that many friends & family plan to use this as a longer beach trip. If you are trying to rent a house or condo, we would suggest looking at Litchfield by the Sea, South Litchfield, or North Litchfield where you can walk to the beach. Down on Pawleys Island is very beautiful but will be a bit of a drive to Litchfield by the Sea. Some of the places that are right on Highway 17 may not have a great view and will probably be pretty loud. You also would have to drive to the beach. The Hampton Inn is right at the entrance to Litchfield by the Sea. We would definitely avoid staying anywhere north of North Litchfield or South of Pawleys Island. We are working on/hoping we will be able to get any guests not staying in Litchfield by the Sea on an approved list to get through the gates. We are happy to confirm if your possible rental options are in good locations!

The Seaside Inn in Litchfield by the Sea is fairly close to the Beach Club and would be a great place to stay! The one and two-bedroom suites feature two queen beds (in each bedroom), or one with a king, a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, dining room, living room, garden tub, washer/dryer, and a screened porch. This retro beach hotel is a relatively short walk down the beach from Litchfield by the Sea and about a 5 minute drive! We have a block rate that varies from $257-$283 by type of room. Airports
We suggest flying into Myrtle Beach MYR (30min drive) or Charleston CHS (1hr drive) for anyone needing to use an airport. Charlotte may also be a good option but would include a 3-4hr drive.
