October is peak tourism season in the mountains. We suggest booking as soon as possible as hotels and rentals will likely fill up fast. For those flying in, we suggest Atlanta or Knoxville Airport as both are about 2.5 hours away from Hiawassee (Chattanooga and Asheville airports are also options). We have included some recommendations of places to stay in Hiawassee below. If you are willing to drive a bit (to Murphy NC or Clayton GA, both about 30m), there are more options available.
