It all started in a park in Ferndale, MI one evening in the summer of 2015. Meagan's friend Vidhi invited her to play on a recreation league kickball game, and John's friend and coworker Eamonn (Paul) invited him to play. John had only been living in Royal Oak for about a month, and Meagan had been there for about a year-but had never played kickball before. The first time they met, Meagan and John had a casual conversation, but it was a quick meeting since John's parents were visiting from Nebraska and he had to run to meet them after the game. The second meeting was at a post-kickball dinner and drinks gathering at Rosie O' Grady's. John asked for Meagan's number at the table, and while they may disagree about who was staring at who throughout the evening- neither have looked back since that day. While it may seem like an unlikely connection since Meagan is maize and blue through and through, and John was raised wearing scarlet and cream, Meagan was nicknamed corn on the cob, and John loves corn (being from Nebraska and all). So really- it was a match made in heaven.

Meagan starting going to Crystal Mountain in middle school when Bill & Rhonda purchased a cottage up north. She spent every moment she could up there with friends and family- snowboarding in the winter, and going out on the boat, attending concerts, having bonfires, visiting beaches, and kayaking down the river in the summer. Since it was such an important place for Meagan, she couldn't wait for John to see it and spend time there. John and Meagan took their first weekend getaway together up to Crystal for a fun labor day trip with a big group of friends. John loved the Northern Michigan "Stay n Play Getaway" from the moment they arrived, and since then, they spend as much time up there as they can- in every season. All Meagan's friends nicknamed Crystal Mountain "where all your dreams come true" because it was always so exciting to go up north, and was always a great time for everyone. So when John tried to figure out where he would propose, there was one spot that just made sense: Crystal Mountain- Where all your dreams come true. John invited friends up and planned a whole weekend getaway, but unbeknownst to Meagan, there was a lot more planned than skiing and beer Olympics over the weekend. He got the whole group to go to the top of the mountain and while they were posing for a photo- he got down on one knee and asked Meagan to marry him- officially cementing Crystal Mountain as the place where all your dreams come true.
