Calvin and Maddy met on move in day at Truett McConnell University in January of 2021. For the next 3 years they would pass each other on their way to class, to the CAF, or in the student center and simply nod and wave, but never really have conversations. Both dedicated to their studies, they graduated from TMU May 9 2023, and both received full time positions at their alma mater. Calvin as the Graphic designer in the Marketing and Advancement office, Maddy as the Female Resident Director and Housing Coordinator in the office of Student life. Eventually their offices ended up right next to each other. This led to a casual conversation in the Fall of 2024 after the disastrous hit of Hurricane Helene. Maddy and Calvin's parents were both personally affected by the storm. TMU students were taking a trip to Valdosta GA with Samaritan's Purse to aid in disaster relief, and Maddy signed up to go with them. After telling Calvin she was going she suggested that he go as well and document the trip. He also signed up to go and that is where everything started. After spending a weekend helping with disaster relief, their interest in each other grew and they began spending more time together. This led to a relationship in December 2024, meeting the parents in January of 2025, and spending every day together. To Calvin and Maddy, family is very important. Calvin has two older brothers, Clay and Cole, and one younger sister, Kailey. Maddy has an older brother Caleb, and two younger sisters, Claire and Hannah. After being invited to Maddy's family vacation, Calvin began planning the proposal. Maddy was completely unaware. On Saturday June 7, at sunset on the beach, Calvin preposed. Each of their families were able to be at the beach for the proposal along with Maddy's grandparents Ed and Ginny Jones, making the moment perfect. The marriage will take place December 13, 2025, and the couple is excited for what God is leading them to together!
