Kayla hadn’t been fishing since she was younger, but it had always lived quietly on her list of things to return to. Tre, on the other hand, loved to fish and did so often. After a not-so-successful fishing attempt in Birmingham, Alabama earlier that summer, Tre took Kayla to visit their family in Tallahassee, Florida and decided it would be the perfect opportunity to try again. True to Kayla form, she got dressed at 5 a.m. (in white pants, might we add) and excitedly joined Tre on the drive to Carrabelle, Florida. To everyone’s surprise, especially her own, Kayla caught the most fish that day. As the saltwater swelled her afro and the sun kissed Tre’s skin into a warm glow, she remembers thinking how absolutely and unashamedly in love she was. Tre must have felt the same because when she recalls this fishing day, she mentions how Kayla's skills and how quickly she caught on is what added to her thinking, "I can't let her go". From that day on, fishing became more than an activity. It became a shared language, a memory, and a reminder of how love shows up when you least expect it. Our theme is a tribute to that moment when love reeled us in and changed everything. Because some love stories aren’t planned, they’re simply #BoldEnoughToBeCaught.
