How We Met

February 25, 2019

We'll be real with you guys, we met on Tinder. Alexa was basically over online dating and Josh was testing the dating waters again, not looking to get serious super fast. Though Alexa had been on and off of Tinder for awhile, it turns out that the two of us matched together on Josh's very first day on the app! He reached out first and she hesitantly agreed to a date. We went to coffee and what was supposed to be a two hour max date became six hours and included dinner, and the time just flew. We only ended the date there because Alexa had a pajama party to get to. Who knew that the Coffee Bean in Monrovia would change our lives forever.

How Josh Proposed

Quarantine-Style, Baby!

Alright, this is Josh speaking. Originally, I had plans to take Alexa and her close friends to the Apple Blossom Festival at Los Rios Ranch in Yucaipa, CA. I was going to have a station, hidden amongst the orchards, with peony flowers (her favorite flowers) and a guitarist waiting for our arrival. Upon said arrival, I was going to sing "Running Home to You" from The Flash, which is a song she loves, and then drop on one knee. Yep, everything was looking like smooth sailing ahead... until the Fire Nation attacked. Just kiddin', COVID-19 happened. Well, crap. There goes the festival! Now what? Both Alexa and I figured we'd just have to wait for me to propose until after the quarantine, since she was CONSTANTLY trying to figure out my proposal plans, like the True Crime detective she is. It wasn't until I had a phone call with my mom where she suggested that I get creative and propose during the quarantine. But for real, how can I do that if we have to be socially distant from others? Well, like many stupid politicians in DC, I managed to find a loophole in the social distancing rules... I organized my plans with her close friends and some of our family members, including Danny, Ashley, Ella, Ricky, Amy, Theo, Jordan, and Rick and Kathy (my folks). Now Alexa and I already had plans to take a drive through Malibu while staying in our car. What she didn't know is that once we picked a spot on the road to eat dinner with an ocean view, I was going to have everyone I listed previously meet us there, in their cars, and upon arrival, I was gonna sing "Running Home to You" to her and then drop on one knee. Everything pretty much went according to plan, but Alexa wanted to drive on that day, so she ended up unknowingly picking the proposal spot, which honestly was just a spot on the side of the road that happened to have an ocean view. It was very windy and a little road-noisy, but it happened all according to plan and Alexa loved her proposal!
