We met at Georgia Southern in a Calculus I class. Ben always sat in the very front row, and after every exam he’d excitedly shout out his score to the class. Once he’d made sure everyone heard it, he would not so subtly make his way to the very back of the room to ask Bohdi what she got. Her score was always higher.

Ben proposed to Bohdi at South Seas Resort on Captiva Island, standing together on the T-Dock as the water stretched out around them. This wasn’t just a beautiful place, it was her place. Her family had been coming there her entire life, and it carried generations of meaning: it’s where her parents were married, and where her grandparents began their marriage too.
