Unlike many, our story starts very early in our lives. On the playground in second grade, barely 7 years old, we became best friends. Playing on the jungle gym and make-believing Jurassic Park (Sarah was the paleontologist and Justin was the very convincing T-Rex), a friendship quickly grew. As the years went by, we sat together at lunch and had all the same friends. As high school approached, we started to like each other more than just friends. At a park in late November of 2010 that we frequented often, surrounded by friends, we decided we wanted to be together. It has been love ever since.
"I just want to take a minute to say how truly amazing Justin Boey is. He has been my best friend since elementary school, and my boyfriend since freshman year of highschool. I woke up Sunday morning thinking it would be a normal day. We were supposed to go shopping at Crocker Park with my mom and grandma. Instead, they dropped us off at the airport. I had no idea where we were going until they announced it as we were boarding: Myrtle Beach, SC. He told me we were going to watch the eclipse. I was so excited! We had been talking about the eclipse for weeks and had been running around trying to find eclipse glasses. Yesterday we drove about an hour south to Georgetown, SC so that we could see the totality. We got there early to avoid traffic and spent the morning exploring the cute little town. Finally we picked a spot in a park to settle in and watch. The eclipse was amazing. The sky was a deep blue and purple; twilight in the middle of the afternoon. Street lights turned on and the air got cooler. Then, just as the moon started moving, the sun started peaking through. I pointed that out to him. He said "You know, that's called the diamond ring effect". I looked over at him, and he was down on one knee. I love him more than life itself, and I cannot wait to start this new adventure with him." -Sarah
