It all started on Hinge, a dating app. Zack asked Brooke to breakfast at Corner Bakery Cafe although he later thought the date occurred at Snooze which was down the road. The date went so well that Zack asked her to watch the Chiefs that same day! They hit it off watching the game at The Peanut (where ironically they realized their shared allergy to nuts). Zoey, however, was a bit more reluctant to Zack's charm. Over time, she warmed up to him as she slowly accepted that he was sticking around for the long haul. Before long, Brooke was going on family vacations with Zack's family and learning what a "beach vacation" really was. She seemed to fit right in (maybe a little too well). Zack got off to a rocky start with Brooke's sister, Lauren, when he crushed her spirits at Rook despite it being his first time playing. To this day, she refuses to sit to his right. Zack made a good enough impression on Brooke's mom to get her blessing and patched things up with Lauren to convince her to come to KC for the proposal. Zack cleverly devised a plan with both Steph and Lauren for the proposal. Lauren arrived under false pretenses and Steph showed up at Brooke's front door on Saturday morning to "hang out" with a rose and a card from Zack (who was still "under the weather"). The day progressed from manicures to brunch (each with another rose and card) and then finally back to Brooke's, where Zack was waiting. Zoey gave her wag of approval and could hardly contain her excitement of getting a dad!
