CARTAGENA DE INDIAS is a stunning colonial city located on the northeastern coast of Colombia, along the Caribbean Sea. Easily accessible by air, land, or sea, it welcomes thousands of visitors each year who go to enjoy its blend of relaxation, history, and vibrant culture. The official currency is the Colombian Peso (COP), which fluctuates relative to the U.S. Dollar. Average temperatures hover around 30°C (86°F) year-round, and the warm waters of the Caribbean make Cartagena a perfect destination in any season.
Question

Tips while in Cartagena

Answer

Wear sunglasses, use sunscreen, and dress comfortably. Take care of your personal belongings. Exchange money only at official currency exchange offices, never on the street. Check the official exchange rate for the day. Service charge is typically included in restaurant bills; however, tipping is optional and based on your discretion (typically 10%). The only authorized location for departures and passenger boarding to the Rosario Islands is Muelle Turístico de La Bodeguera/La Bodeguita (located in the Historic Center). Most tourist attractions and points of interest are within walking distance. If you prefer transportation, we recommend using public taxis (tipping is not required). It is also safe to use Uber. If you have any questions, feel free to ask the locals, they are more than happy to help. Just be mindful and use your judgment, as some may try to take advantage of tourists.
