It was flirting at first sight when Bobbie walked into Scubaland in Austin, TX and saw the tall, dark and handsome manager of the dive shop, Alex. Bobbie had just moved back to Austin after getting her Master of Science degree in marine biology at Auburn University and she needed to get her PADI Advanced and Rescue scuba diver certifications so she could join a scuba instructor training program in Honduras. Alex set Bobbie up with everything she needed for scuba class and just so happened to show up at the lake on the day of her training. He was looking ready for adventure in his drysuit and Bobbie was excited to see him again. Thank goodness he asked for her number and they ended up spending hours talking, drinking wine, and eating tapas on their first date.

Bobbie was over the moon when she got accepted to present at the International Sponge Symposium in Leiden, Netherlands. Alex was over the moon as well, because it meant he had the chance to take Bobbie to see his childhood home in Amsterdam after the conference. They decided to stay four extra days in the Netherlands to explore Amsterdam. Alex planned every adventure to the minute. From Van Gogh to the Rijksmuseum to the Royal Palace to the Bloemenmarkt, Alex made sure Bobbie got the full Amsterdam experience, including a reservation at the Michelin star restaurant Ciel Bleu. Bobbie made sure they brought gorgeous outfits for this dinner and good thing she did... in between the appetizers and the mains out came covered trays. Hidden beneath one silver dome was the perfect ring and beneath the other written in chocolate were the words "Will you marry me?". Alex got down on one knee and Bobbie couldn't wait to say "YES!"
